lake jocassee.

...a random stop on our road trip to Brevard/Ashville led us to this delightful place.

Standing by the water's edge I held my breath for fear of disturbing the silence. . .

a snow welcome.

I was welcomed back to the Classic City, for my post-college adventure, with a beautiful snow that turned to ice and lasted... oh like 6 days. No big deal. Perfect days with precious friends.

Snowballs were hurled.
Treturous drives were taken.
Card games entertained.
Alarms were snoozed till noon.
Dumpster lids were used as sleds.
Fisbees were tossed.
Waffle House provided lunch and dinner.

Music was played.
Card games continued for hours... "FOUR!"
Igloos were built and slept in.
Treks were made to the Botans.
Snow angles were made.
Gazebos were danced in.
The river was a rest stop.
Chili & worship night was held.
The snow day song was belted.
Conversations were in plenty. . .

hearts smiled.

Passion 2011

Words cannot describe how blessed I was to serve on the media team at Passion 2011. MC and I worked side by side the entire week and we able to attend several of the talks and a breakout! I've been attending Passion events since I was a Freshman, back in January 2006. The heartbeat of Passion impacted my college days. As the night started on January 1, 2011 I was emotional. Watching 22,000+ college students fill in and out of the sessions my heart prayed that they would truly encounter the Savior, in a way that would forever alter their lives!

Two of my best guy friends decided to ride down to Atlanta to see if they could get a free ticket. 1. They are poor college students. 2. It was sold out. 3. They just wanted to trust the Lord would provide. They prayed consistently. I received a text: "The Lord provided. Why am I not surprised?" At the end of the first talk the camera panned the audience, during a song at the venue across the street, and as a looked up at the screen a saw a guy laying on the floor praising the Lord. It was my same friend. God is so faithful.

Louie Giglio gave the opening talk. "Circumstances should not keep us from being fully alive." This is a day of "new beginnings." 1-1-11. Chan, Beth Moore, and Piper followed. Beth Moore's breakout for girls only was powerful. I believe the Lord uses her to speak straight to girls hearts. She talked about the difference between Him giving us the desires of our heart and knowing the heart of our desires. He delights in us... jealousy, anger and worry keep us from delight in the Lord. Chan challenged us to measure out of life and see if it makes since in light of all the Lord has done for us. In Piper's talk he shared that God should be the bottom of our JOY. We should be more satisfied because God enables us to make much of Him, instead of when He makes much of us!

The Do Something Now center allowed college students and volunteers to give ... NOW. Several organizations were represented and held goals that they wanted to reach by the end of the week. Those goals were exceeded by a large margin. The students raised over $1milllion for the Kingdom of Jesus Christ.
