My brother and I were both able to make the trip home on the same weekend! It so relaxing to spend time with the whole family! I love them tons and already miss them!! Friday night the first thing I did was go to the back yard and find the new puppies that I hadn't seen yet. My brothers appropriately named the two puppies: Smokey & Bandit, ha! The rest of the night was spent riding bikes, talking, and watching funny videos on YouTube.
Saturday morning, after sleeping in, I woke up to a yummy breakfast with my whole family! We just sat around the table and talked for a while. Loved it. All six of us kids ended up playing a funny game of football in the front yard.... funny because I'm terrible. haha! The rest of the afternoon was pretty chill. Later it was back to the front yard for a game of ultimate
frisbee with the boys. We had some laughs!!
Spending time with my little sister was great. I miss her! We stopped by Truett's, it's always good to see the old gang. I'm pretty sure I've forgotten how to wait tables, it seems like so long ago. That night we ended up watching a home video. My brother who just graduated from high school was taking his first steps in the video. I had the loudest country accent when I was a little girl, it is somewhat embarrassing.
Sunday morning was spent at church. I almost felt like the pastor was speaking directly to me. In a later conversation with Dad he said, "It almost seemed like we were just sitting around the kitchen table and talking one on one with him." It is such a God thing that I was there to hear it! It was about giving Christ my whole heart, not just first place. If I don't understand this first commandment, then all the others will seem like rules. He also said, "Worry is the warning light that tells us we don't understand the 1st Commandment." I struggle with that alot! I want to give him control of the things in my life that I think I have under control, not just the things that I have no control over. If I try to take control of what rightfully belongs to God, all responsibility is placed on me.... and I don't want that!
To grandma's house we went ... for the afternoon. It was her brother's birthday... basically a family reunion for her side of the family. I enjoyed sitting on the swing on her front porch! :) Me and youngest brother sat there and thought about the story Dad tells about when the swing broke and my oldest brother (who couldn't hadn't quite grasped the concept of talking yet) tried to explain to my Dad what happened! We threw the frisbee for a little bit in the front yard and then I headed back to Athens. Me, Katie, & Amy got to video chat with Becky in South Africa!! :)
